Project Description

A customer approached IK Subsea looking for a solution for a project in Equatorial Guinea for removal of coating on 6”, 8” and 10” pipe spools, in preparation for hot-tapping operations.

In response to the challenge,I K Subsea designed, tested and manufactured the Mark II Coating Removal Tool, a specialized tool designed for the meticulous removal of multilayer PU (polyurethane) insulation and FBE (Fusion bond epoxy) coatings on 6″, 8″, and 10″ pipe spools. The tool was designed for both horizontal and vertical operations. This innovative tool encompasses milling heads tailored for subsea milling of both steel and PU, as well as wire brushes dedicated to the surface preparation of the bare steel pipe.

Noteworthy features of the ROV-operated subsea CRT include:
Coating thickness:
50-100mm
Stroke:
up to 1000mm
Water Depth:
up to 3000m
Pipe OD:
